Victims

I now understand why it's often said that "there is no such thing as a victimless crime." As a matter of fact, it seems that here in the good ol' U S of A, there's not a victimless anything. This epiphany came as I was watching an alleged morning news program this morning, and they broadcast an interview with Lisa Williams, an apparent victim of dehydration at the hands of the merciless kingpins that were running the Carnival slave ship Triumph. This poor victim was victimized by the dastardly stewards of Carnival by apparently, and this is a direct quote, "not offering [her] additional water." She was also a victim of being bumped into, as well as a victim of yucky smells. She wasn't, however, a victim of death by fire or drowning, but that's only because the overlords at Carnival had the audacity to put out the fire, not let the ship capsize, and immediately call for help. Poor, poor Lisa Williams was also the victim of poor decision making, as she bravely decided that she (and this is another direct quote) "wasn't going to drink anything from the ship." She's since been the victim of multiple visits to urgent care to be victimized by medical professionals administering fluids intravenously.

Meanwhile, I've been the victim of shitty news reporting, fluff pieces, and overly florid non-news. I may have to sue Verizon for allowing this to happen. Lisa "I'm a greedy, entitled twunt" Williams seems to be on the right track here. Why do something, when you can sue?

As an aside, the alleged morning news program did also mention a famous suicide victim who was also the victim of drug and alcohol dependence, and her boyfriend who predeceased her by also being a victim of suicide. Her children are now victims of orphaning.

Seriously though folks, don't you think perhaps we're whipping this word around just a bit too much? Everybody's a fucking victim these days, and it's getting a smidge out of hand, wouldn't you say? Everyday is peppered with stories of suicide victims, homicide victims, abuse victims, assault victims, and other actual crime victims which are all valid. My problem is with victims of inconvenience, victims of harrowing ordeals and brushes with doom that miraculously escape certain death by mere miles. Get a fucking grip, people. This latest tragedy at sea seems to be full of people whining and moaning because they didn't think they were going to make it out alive, despite the fact that they were being towed to port while the coast guard dropped supplies on the deck.

Meanwhile, there's a thousand Russians who can't hear all the bitching and complaining and panicked utterances of doom, because they're still digging bits of glass and space rock out of their ears.

Okay, I promise this is my very last post about the fucktards of the doomed carnival ship of near death.

Thanks for being victims of my vitriol.

  2. Victims need representation, which is someone's invitation to take their money. If anyone is to blame for the entitlement complex and "pussification" of America, perhaps it's the lawyers.
